Mt. Elbrus is a stunning volcanic peak located in the Caucasus Mountains of Russia and at 5.642m (18,510ft) it is Europe’s, as well as Russia’s, highest peak.

Situated between the Black Sea to the west and the Caspian Sea to the east, Mt. Elbrus rises majestically from the high green plains that stretch northward into the heartland of Russia. Just to the south of the peak lies the main body of the Caucasus Mountains, a range that rivals the Alps with its stark rugged beauty. Our adventures begin several thousand miles to the north of Mt. Elbrus in Moscow – the political, economic, and cultural heart of Russia. We walk across the cobblestones of Red Square, beneath the shadows of St. Basil’s onion-shaped domes, and cross through the thick walls of the Kremlin to visit the seat of Russian power.

We then fly south to the town of Mineralnye Vody, known for its abundant mineral springs. A three-hour drive brings us to the Baksan Valley, sitting at the foot of Mt. Elbrus and surrounded on all sides by the soaring peaks of the Caucasus. After adjusting to the altitude while hiking in the valley, we move to the Pilgrim Hut at 3.835m (12,600ft) on Mt. Elbrus’ flanks. We use the mountain’s rolling glaciers surrounding the hut to review our mountaineering skills and continue our acclimatization in preparation for our summit bid.

Climb with us Kilimanjaro via Machame Route

Known as the „Whiskey” route, the Machame route is now the most popular route on the mountain. Compared with Marangu, the days on Machame are longer and the walks are steeper. The Machame route is considered a difficult route and is better suited for more adventurous folks, and those with some hiking or backpacking experience. The route begins from the south, then heads east, traversing underneath Kilimanjaro’s southern ice field before summiting. The minimum number of days required for this route is six days, although seven days is recommended. The Machame route is scenically beautiful and varied. However, due to the heavy crowds, it loses some of its splendor.

Why we think you’ll love it

Is one of the most famous routes to Kilimanjaro

Kilimanjaro is part of the seven summits circuit

✓   It is the tallest mountain on the African continent

The Roof of Europe

Mont Blanc, in the heart of the Mont Blanc Massif, is the tallest peak in the Alps and the highest summit in Western Europe, hence its epithet the “Roof of Europe”. The mountain sits astride the Franco-Italian border, south of Chamonix and northwest of Courmayeur.

Even if conquering Mont Blanc takes less than a week with flights included, it’s a pretty technical ascent for which serious preparation needs to be done. To facilitate this, Extreme Expedition is adding to the package two free courses on winter hiking and technical climbing, organized in Romania’s mountains ahead of the Mont Blanc actual climb.

Lobuche Peak 6,145 m: An Overview

Elevation: 6,145 m  |  First Ascent: 25, April 1984  |  Mountain range: Himalaya, Nepal

Lobuche Peak situated just above the Lobuche village in Khumbu Region. This peak is not far from the Mt. Everest but only few kilometers nearer to the way of this world’s highest mountain. Lobuche Peak has its two different summits, one is Lobuche East Peak (6119m) and the other is Lobuche West Peak (6145m).

The route of Lobuche Peak climbing starts from Lobuche village via South bear and South Ridge. Both the Peaks of Lobuche are dramatic and very similar in geometry, forming three-ridged pyramid on each. They dominate the view from the Everest Base Camp trek while approaching Lobuche village located at the base of the Southeast shoulder of the Lobuche East Peak. The South and Southeast Ridges form a typical rock triangle extending to the Khumbu Glacier sideways moraine and easily identifiable from the trek and in particularly from the hill with stone memorials.

The trek to approach for Lobuche Peak Climbing starts from the renowned valley Lukla, after a short 35 minutes spectacular flight from Kathmandu and follows through colorful Khumbu Area’s Sherpa villages. Namche Bazaar, the famous ancient trading post between Nepal and Tibet; Tyangboche with significant Buddhist monastery set in the backdrop of classic Lhotse view; Pangboche the highest Sherpa village; and Dingboche the gateway to Island Peak are the villages passes the trekking trail for the Lobuche Peak Climbing. Walking up to, Gorak Shep village (5125m) added as part of acclimatization sequence for the Peak Climbers, Kalapattar (5540m) a satellite peak of Pumori for a classic view of Mt. Everest and the Khumbu Icefall and from Gorak Shep to take a hike to visit the Everest Base Camp. With these acclimatization qualifications, we walk back to Lobuche village and trek to the Lobuche East Base Camp (5200m). We will allow two days for acclimatization here again and the climb along the South Ridge to the summit (6119m).
